Liz 2018

Liz will be graduating from the University of Alaska Anchorage this May with a Bachelors of Arts in Early Childhood Education.

Meet my big sister Liz. She is energetic, hardworking, and determined. She can be so silly and definitely knows how to have a good time. She has a heart of gold and is known for always thinking of others.  This was a last minute decision to go out and "just take headshots." It quickly turned into something a little more. We both had in mind this lake we grew up playing around. It is within walking distance from our childhood house. We have plenty of memories here, so it made sense to finish off her college career with some photos here as well. The sun was quickly setting, so we had a few different lighting settings I was able to "play" with. Right before sunset, during the golden light, and right after. The product ended with a few different looks.  I love the way the sun dappled through the trees across the lake. The darkness is behind her with the shadows in the trees. It could be a metaphor for what she had to go through during her college career. Sometimes it is a long path to navigate through an uncertain territory. Now that it is her last semester, she can see the light. And the light looks so good on her!

Elizabeth,

I am very proud of your educational accomplishments. You've come a long way earning your debt free college years by excelling in your grades as well as holding a full time job. You're a definite role model to us as well as our youth and community! Keep reaching for them stars. You've shown us they are within reach and there's no barriers! I love you and very proud of you!

1992. Sept. 20, Elizabeth Brittney-Anne Sherman-Luce was born. From that date forward, Liz has never slowed down. She finished grade school, Jr High and High School while playing varsity basketball and volleyball. Always working hard at whatever she took on. She took on college with the same tenacity. She took heavy class loads and always kept a steady job. Her work ethic never faltered and she kept her goals always in front of her. There were times when her schedule was intimidating and stressful but she worked on. There were a couple falters where classes seemed to be overwhelming but she endured and kept on with renewed spirits, completing classes and moving forward. As the last three semesters came and went she seemed to gain momentum as her confidence grew and she worked even harder. She kept her grade point at a scholarly level and now could see that light at the end of the tunnel. She took on these last two semesters and blew threw them with vigor and maturity. Her family and close friends all know how hard she worked and respect her as well as love her for the true devotion she has shown in graduating as one of our newest and best teachers to enter the field of education. Congratulations Elizabeth Sherman-Luce. Class of 2018
